INTAS supported research
INTAS - The International Association for the Promotion of Co-operation with Scientists from the New Independent States (NIS) of the Former Soviet Union provided support to a research project "Mapping the social sciences and humanities research capacities in Europe and the NIS" (contract nr. 05-1000006-8446) for the period of September 2006 – August 2008.
The INTAS supported project compliments the Global SSH project by
- Expanding the Global SSH activities geography to the countries in the NIS and EU that were not part of the Global SSH project so far – Armenia, Azerbaijan and Lithuania.
- Supporting preparation of the Global SSH project WP2 reports – the Databook and Report on institutional landscapes - for three additional countries: two CIS countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan and one EU member state – Estonia.
- Providing additional financial resources to the Russian partner ISISEP for the statistical data integration of the three additional countries into the Global SSH Databook.
- Providing additional travel funds for partners from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia to the meetings scheduled within the Global SSH project.
- Providing support for organization of two additional workshops – on 21 – 22 September 2006 in St. Petersburg, Russia, on 7 – 8 June 2007 in Tartu, Estonia, and an interregional workshop in autumn 2007 in Georgia. INTAS project will also provide travel funds for Global SSH project partners involved in WP2 and WP3 to attend the St. Petersburg workshop and the Georgia workshop.
- Providing support to research to be conducted by INTAS project partners on the issues of approaches to mapping SSH capacities (compliments activities in the Global SSH project WP2, WP3 and WP5) that will result in preparation of three research reports:
- Country reports on bibliography for Estonia, Russia (in Leningrad region of Russia), Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia (Deadline May 2007). The reports will be prepared based on a bibliographical study to be conducted that will be looking at (a) the topics they address and (b) at the extent to which they contain references with publication in other than mother language, will be developed. Publications of the last five last years (2001 – 2005) will be analysed and main topics will be identified. The study and the reports will reflect specific problems concerned with international elements in the international RTD cooperation.
- Country reports on higher education curricular looking into the aspects of the international publishing Estonia, Lithuania, Russia (North-Western Russia only), Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia (Deadline - autumn 2007).
- An analysis of INTAS funded cooperative research projects with scientists in the CIS countries.
- A research report on policy implications concerning the international research cooperation.
